Worship Pastor Job Description
Hello from the Rock Church here in Danville, IL. We are a non-denominational, mission's-minded, growing church of 360. We are looking for a Worship Pastor. Our mission to persuade generations to take a "Journey Into God's Greatness" together, a journey that provokes passion to lead, live and love like Christ. Our strategy to build a generational pipeline connecting the generations to Christ through radical
commitment to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. In every service you will be encountering the greatness of God.
Parts of the Journey into God's Greatness include: Great Expectation - 1 Peter 1:3 NLT; Great Praise; Great Faith - Matthew 8:10 ( New King James); and of course, The Great Commission - Matthew 28:18-20.
The Worship Leader Position will be commensurate with experience. You must be spirit-filled (tongues), spirit led and able to release others in the song of the Lord. We are looking for a Worship Pastor with a prophetic edge and a mission's-minded heart. We, as Senior Pastors at the Rock Church are Christ for the Nations graduates and we believe in dancing, celebration-type praise and intimate worship as a part of a worship service. You need to be able to play and lead with an instrument...piano or guitar. We believe the height of our praise determines the depth of our worship.
A PLUS for this position would be leading youth, and guitar leading / playing person or couple.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The position calls for a person who is visionary and creative in the ways and means of leading people to God. The position serves as the coordinator to all aspects of worship and performing arts. The position is a pastoral position and therefore requires the individual to be able to serve not solely as the worship leader but also as a shepherd to the people who serve in this ministry. Shepherding people is an often overlooked aspect to the position.
Along with Worship Pastor responsibilities you would be leading worship at our youth facility (a separate 10,000 sq. ft warehouse). You also would be expected to:
1. Develop & lead a growing, effective, cutting-edge (for this area) music ministry that's in line with the Rock Church's vision and the people we are reaching and hoping to reach.
2. Direct all weekly activities, rehearsals, etc necessary to facilitate worship in services and choose music for services, holiday services & special events. We want you to be able to develop new worship leaders and teams here at the Rock.
3. Find & plan ways to use music to reach out to the community evangelistically (& a yearly Praise & Worship Conference.)
4. Work with the Sound Team to ensure all equipment is up to date & working.
