Qualifications 1. Must be a practicing Christian who has accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and exemplifies a spiritual commitment in the performance of his/her duties. 2. Strong musical background, dependable, spiritually motivated, creative and one who sees the Music Ministry as a ministry for the Lord. 3. Must have Degree in Music or similar discipline, with a minimum of one semester of choral directing. 4. Must have five years of experience directing choirs. 5. Must have proven leadership and communication skills to supervise the Music Ministry, its Directors and Musicians, in consultation with the Pastor and Music Committee. 6. Ability to sight-read vocal and instrumental music for piano and organ. 7. Ability to recruit and organize choir directors, instrumentalist and soloist.
Accountability 1. The Minister of Music and Director of the Senior Choir reports to the Pastor and Board of Deacons of the Church. 2. Primarily, the Minister of Music will work with the Pastor on matters of worship, spiritual thematic topics, music ministry and music and praise worship. 3. Primarily, the Minister of Music will work with the Board of Deacons and Music Committee on administrative, budgeting, program development, and scheduling matters.
Salary 1. The salary of the Minister of Music and Director of Senior Choir will be determined by the candidate’s level of education, choral experience and duties on an annual basis. 2. The Salary shall be submitted to the Budget Committee of the Church by the Chairman of the Music Committee along with the annual budget of the Music Ministry, to be voted upon the Church body as a whole. 3. The Minister of Music and Director of Senior Choir shall be provided one month’s vacation during the month of August.
Job Description – Minister of Music 1. Serve as the manager of the Music Ministry of the Church, which includes music at all Sunday services, all choirs, Judah praise team, prayer meetings, High Holy services, praise dance teams, choir directors and all musicians and instrumentalist. 2. Direct and/or make music assignments for all services. 3. Attend or arrange for musician coverage for all choir rehearsals. 4. Recruit for and staff, in consultation with the Pastor and Music Committee, hired directors, musicians and soloist who perform at the Church. 5. Provide training for the Music Ministry personnel through conducting and/or arranging for attendance at workshops, seminars, etc. 6. Encourage members to join the choirs of the Church, by open call. Encourage other musicians and instrumentalists in the membership and larger community to accompany the choirs. 7. Develop and manage an annual budget for the Music Ministry in conjunction with the Pastor, Music Committee and Budget Committee of the Church. 8. Purchase or otherwise obtain music for the choirs of the Church. Setup, compile and maintain a file of all music purchased.<
