Director of Contemporary Worship

Reports to: Head of Staff, Senior Pastor
Job Status: Part-time
Schedule approved by Head of Staff; monthly total not to exceed 15 hours/week

Position Description
Director of worship with specific responsibility for contemporary worship service

Primary Responsibilities
• Develop, plan and lead the Sunday morning contemporary service.
• Recruit, develop, lead and shepherd the worship band for this service.
• Oversee audio/visual for this service
• Have full responsibility for, but work with Pastoral Staff on, all areas of the service including but not limited to: format, logistics, technical and fellowship aspects.
• Stay current with and integrate the latest trends in contemporary worship.
• Coordinate with Director of blended worship service as needed.

Related Responsibilities
• Attend worship committee meetings and other planning meetings as needed.
• Lead worship for annual all-church retreat.
• Attend church-related functions as a way to network within the congregation.
• Other responsibilities assigned by Session, Pastor, and/or Worship Committee.

Qualifications & Skills
Required:
• A passionate faith in Jesus Christ
• Gifted in leading people into God’s presence through worship
• Strong skills in music, leadership and organization
• People-oriented team builder

Important:
• A working knowledge of technical aspects related to the worship ministry (sound, lighting, video editing, worship software, media)
• Strong singing ability
• Proficiency in either guitar or keyboard
• Relaxed, natural stage presence
